Colt's belt pistol was a market favorite dating from the California Gold Rush. The second-most widely produced percussion revolver in Colt's line, it is a cap and ball revolver that was designed by Samuel Colt between 1847 and 1850. Famous Navy users included Wild Bill Hickok, John Henry "Doc" Holliday, Richard Francis Burton, Ned Kelly, Bully Hayes, Richard H. Barter, Robert E. Lee, and most Texas Rangers prior to the Civil War and (fictionally) Rooster Cogburn.

This superb example has 90% blue remaining on New York addressed barrel. Strong case colors on frame. All matching including wedge. Strong cylinder scene. Original varnish on grips. 20% silver remaining on trigger guard and backstrap. Excellent condition. Fully functional. Serial number. 135989
