The Colt 1862 Police Percussion Revolver is considered the epitome of in streamlined design by Colt’s factory in the percussion period. Manufactured from 1861 until 1873, it was designed in response to the demand for pocket pistols by both civilians and the police force. One enduring legend says that 1862 Police Percussion Revolvers were particularly popular with Civil War Officers who, rather than using them in combat, relied on them as a defense against enthusiastic surgeons determined on amputating a limb on the battlefield.

This example is a five shot revolver, .36 caliber with a 6.5 inch barrel and walnut grips. Blue finish turning brown with traces of silver. All matching, including wedge. Serial number 8057. Very Good Condition.
